Welcome to the Uhlenköper-Camp and the Hotel 11 Eulen in Uelzen-Westerweyhe
Eco-camping at its best: organic store, organic bread rolls, organic beer … At the small Uhlenköper camp on the edge of the heath town of Uelzen, everyone will find their favorite spot: cosy and comfortable for a longer stay, practical and easy for a flying visit by bike or camper van.
While the grown-ups enjoy a coffee on the sunny terrace, the children play in the swimming pool, on the playground or by the stream.
The little ones can also have great fun with nature and animals on site. Washing machine and tumble dryer for “after” are available in the well-kept sanitary area.
The Uhlenköper Camp is the ideal starting point for canoe trips, bike tours and excursions into the surrounding countryside – and a welcome destination after an eventful day.
We do not rest on our laurels – we are always ready to listen to your wishes. Enjoy relaxing and varied days with us in a family atmosphere – we look forward to seeing you!

Hotel 11 Owls
In June 2021, the Hotel 11 Eulen opened directly at the NaturFreiBad on the grounds of the Uhlenköper Camp. The completely ecologically constructed building has two barrier-free 2-bed rooms and seven double rooms on the second floor.
An elevator takes you to the second floor, where a room equipped with solid wood furniture and state-of-the-art technology awaits you with allergy-friendly bedding, a private bathroom with a walk-in shower and automated climate control.
On the first floor you will be spoiled with breakfast, fresh lunch and a snack in the evening in the organic bistro.
We are open!
The main building “die Hütte” with bistro, organic store, wash house and hotel rooms is open daily from 7.30 am to 6.00 pm.
A booking is usually required before arrival. Please book here on the page under “Book online”. The occupancy calendar is always updated daily. If something is available there, the booking is possible. For capacity reasons, we can only accept telephone or e-mail inquiries for short-term bookings.
Pitches or accommodation will be available from 1 pm. However, you are also welcome to arrive earlier and see if your pitch is already available. The campsite is open all day. Reception is open until 18:00. Departure from the hotel and rental accommodation by 10:00, otherwise 12:00.

With our ecological management, we ensure that you can enjoy our natural surroundings and experience nature in an unadulterated and sustainable way. In the long term, we also want to make a contribution to securing the basis of life for present and future generations with eco-camping.

The Camping2be camping community is a platform that deals with guest reviews of over 4,000 campsites throughout Europe.
At the beginning of 2022, we were contacted with the announcement that we at Uhlenköper-Camp Uelzen had once again received the Camping2be Award. We are very happy about that. Especially since we were already awarded in 2021.

ECOCAMPING e.V.
The ECOCAMPING association has encouraged us to think seriously about ecological management by offering an environmental management system and participating in a pilot project in Lower Saxony.
Our aim is to constantly improve environmental and nature conservation, safety and quality on our course. For this reason, we have established an environmental and quality management system. We received the ECOCAMPING ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT award in 2005 for our commitment.

ÖKORegio e.V.
Around the same time, we joined ÖKORegio e.V.. This is an association of organic companies from north-eastern Lower Saxony. The association has developed into a permanent fixture with many events and activities, and the Uhlenköper camp is very much involved.

Every year, 85 campsites are selected as outstanding by the editors of Camping-Glück. We are proud to be one of them again in 2023!
Certification: Sustainable Lower Saxony
The “Sustainable Lower Saxony” symbol is awarded to businesses that are particularly exemplary in ecological, economic and social terms. These businesses have undergone an audit and certification with regard to sustainable business practices. This includes, for example, conserving resources, using local products and taking employees’ interests into account.
We have been awarded the TourCert Check
We want to promote greater responsibility in tourism. To this end, we have taken a closer look at our sustainability performance and are now proud to present ourselves with the TourCert Check award. Among other things, we have examined our corporate philosophy, asked ourselves questions about our consumption of energy, waste, water and paper and analyzed the status of our social commitment – for example by supporting projects and initiatives. A specially trained sustainability officer is now responsible for taking sustainability into account in all our activities. We have also formulated specific improvement measures that we would like to work on more intensively in the future.

A special kind of vacation apartment: built using organic construction methods and equipped with solid wood furniture, the eco vacation apartment meets modern requirements for a sustainable vacation. The wood-scented climate and the bathroom with walk-in shower in particular are often praised.

Zauberwagen - living close to nature with a special flair
New at Uhlenköper-Camp: our wooden magic caravans. They combine a special vacation flair with the idea of eco-camping – close to nature, cozy and with everything you need for relaxing days. You can expect four beds, a small kitchenette, a covered terrace and your own bathroom. Perfect for anyone who loves a camping atmosphere and wants to live comfortably.
Ikos - Your private mini-dome
From 2024, the DOM G12 will stand on the former Jurtenterrasse of the Uhlenköper camp. The icosahedron, the structural basis of every geodesic dome, will remain in its proven design and iconic shape. Each DOM is equipped with a large sleeping area for at least 2 people on the mezzanine and 2 beds on the first floor. There is also a galley kitchen with fridge and seating in front of the tent.
Puff nests
The Schwurbelnest is located in Schwurbelland, which opened in 2021, and is the sister of the Mupfel. The lying area of 1.2m x 2m is the same, but there is a little more storage space and a covered storage area. The washbasins, showers and toilets are freely available in the sanitary building. You will need a sleeping bag or similar.

It is now also possible to spend the night at the Uhlenköper Camp in a sleeping beach chair like Ping and Wawa from the children’s book “Urmel from the Ice”. Experience an incomparable sleeping experience in these outdoor beds, which are now also approved for humans. Open to the public
Bed & Bike
On your bike tour, you will find ideal conditions for an uncomplicated overnight stay. A car-free area with bike racks, cell phone charging station, cooling compartments and cooking facilities make your stay comfortable even for travelers with light luggage.
With caravan or motorhome
The vacation pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes are divided into cozy pitch groups. Each is named after an owl species; we will be happy to advise you which owl is right for you.
Camping at the Uhlenköper Camp
The pitches for tents are located on a car-free tent meadow. This is somewhat secluded from the pitches for caravans and therefore very quiet. Cooking facilities, a recreation room, sanitary facilities and the NaturFreiBad are in the immediate vicinity.

From the north (Bad Bevensen)
On the cycle path along the Ilmenau, with the river on your left, cycle through Emmendorf, then at some point turn right through the railroad underpass. Straight ahead through Kirchweyhe in the direction of Westerweyhe. At the entrance to the village, turn left following the signs to Uhlenköper-Camp.
From the direction of Uelzen town center
At the employment agency, follow the campsite signpost to the left towards Ebstorf, after approx. 1 km you can take the shortcut diagonally to the right through the town forest directly to Westerweyhe. There you follow the road Am Stadtwald, cross the railroad crossing with barriers and turn left. Follow the Stadtberg road to the end. Up to this point, you have been on a section of the beautiful Lüneburg Heath Cycle Route. Now, at the school, turn right into Festplatzweg.

From the main entrance (upper exit) take a city bus (line 2) to the town hall (you can also walk), from there take bus line 4 to Westerweyhe-Altes Dorf. From there it is a 100 m walk to Festplatzweg.

From the B4 from Hamburg
ATTENTION: NEW TRAFFIC ROUTING:
Shortly before Uelzen there is a traffic circle with a large ARAL filling station. At the traffic circle, follow the signs to Kirchweyhe/Westerweyhe. In Kirchweyhe turn left towards Westerweyhe. At the entrance to the town, follow the signs to Uhlenköper-Camp on the left.
From the B4 from Hannover/Celle
Follow the B4 towards Lüneburg (Uelzen bypass) until you reach the traffic circle before Kirchweyhe. Turn off in the direction of Kirchweyhe/Westerweyhe. In Kirchweyhe turn left towards Westerweyhe. At the entrance to the town, follow the signs to the Uhlenköper-Camp on the left.
From the B71
At Uelzen, take the B4 towards Lüneburg as far as the traffic circle before Kirchweyhe. Turn off in the direction of Kirchweyhe/Westerweyhe. In Kirchweyhe turn left towards Westerweyhe. Follow the signs to Uhlenköper-Camp on the left as you enter the town.
